There’s Still Time to Lower Your 2012 Taxes

Arizona tax law has two hidden gems you may be unaware of – the Private
School Tax Credit and the “switcher credit.”

The private school tuition foundation credit lets you take up to $1006 on your
2012 Arizona return as a tax credit. The “switcher credit” gives you another
$1,000 credit to apply as a deduction on your 2012 Arizona return. And, the
contribution counts as a 2013 contribution on your Federal tax return. So you
can actually apply up to $2006 in tax credits, thereby lowering your taxable
income.

But you must make these contributions before April 15, 2013.
Keeping the contributions local (in Yavapai County) helps Yavapai County area families in need rather than those outside our local area.

Private School Tax Credit
Maximum credit is $1,006 for married and $503 for single and head of household.
Payment must be made to a Tuition Organization. This is a 501(c)(3)
that uses 90% or greater of its revenues to provide grants or scholarships.
No dependent of the taxpayer can benefit from the contribution. You can download Form 321 from azdor.gov and fill out the form online, then print it and include it with your tax return. Check with your local CPA before you file your taxes to take advantage of this opportunity.
